3D Filaments – 3D printing filament 1.75 mm
Filament is the catridge for a 3D printer and makes it possible to print 3D models. The 3D filament is unwound from a coil and supplies material to a nozzle, which manages the flow. The drive-motor pulls the material into the extruder nozzle at a controlled rate. The filament becomes fluid at a certain temperature. When the right temperature is reached and the material is melted, a 3D print can be started.
The fluidity of filament depends on the type of filament and the required extruder- and print bed temperature. Currently, many 3D filaments are available, each with their own extruder- and print bed temperature. The most common filaments on the market are PLA and ABS. Based on our dddrop 3D printers, ABS requires an extruder temperature of 260 °C and a bed temperature of 120 °C. Our PLA filament needs an extruder temperature of 225 °C and a bed temperature of 65 °C. Besides many types of filaments, many colours of filaments are available.
