Remote Printing Using the dddrop Smart Module
The COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak had affected everyone in one way or another. Many companies were forced to send all their employees to work from home, which put the market in a challenging situation. Many aspects of working with 3D printing involve hands-on operation, which may not be possible at the moment. However, dddrop might have a solution that could potentially help continue working during the outbreak from home. The solution is the dddrop smart module.
The dddrop smart module holds many advantages that can be applied for remote work situations. The module gives full control over the 3D printing process via a mobile and desktop application, provides a live feed through the 3D printer built-in camera with the option to record the feed and view later and provides print process statue review via e-mail.
“Work from home and follow the printer at the office has never been easier”
3D printing large parts may take long hours, and as the coronavirus spreads, it might not be a great idea to stay around the office to consistently check on the 3D printer progress. Once the print has started the smart module allows us to leave the work station and find an isolated space where virus infection is less likely. This reduces human contact and decreases the chances to get ill. Also, checking on the 3D print online means that there is no need to approach the machine until the end of the printing process, so many workers can operate different machines from remote locations without making human contact. This follows the World Health Organization guidelines to avoid the virus spreading.
